On this episode of the podcast, we’re off to Bangkok. Bangkok was the first stop on a 6 week journey through Southeast Asia, and was our first experience in a less developed country. Our stress began the night before leaving for Bangkok when we were reading the visa requirements for Thailand. We panicked and bought a random flight out of Thailand to avoid the necessity of the visa. In the end, we didn’t even need this, so learn from us, and do your homework well before your trip!
Upon arriving in Bangkok, our anxiety continued as we experienced our first tastes of Thailand cabbing from the airport to Khao San Road. We felt extremely overwhelmed in the chaos that is Khao San Road, so we only left our hotel in brief stints to experience the city. Although we experienced extreme sensory overload with the sights, sounds, smells, and heat, we pushed ourselves to step outside of our comfort zones and try to get an authentic Thai experience. Join us as we discuss taking tuk tuk’s, cabs, river boats and crossing crazy streets to explore the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the Golden Mountain. We’ll also discuss eating Thai food, trying our first bucket and bugs, being sick abroad, and how we avoided scams while in Bangkok.
Our second time in Bangkok, we stayed downtown in Siam, making a trip to a luxury mall and a luxury movie! We’ll discuss the observations we made in the difference between the different areas in the city, and much more.
