In this episode of the podcast, we take a bit of a break from our normal routine to discuss the dreaded b-word: budgeting. Everyone has been lectured time and time again on budgeting, so we’re going to call this episode more of a discussion about “how to make a trip happen and not have money as an excuse”. We touch on the importance of saving money before a trip, how we do it, and a few suggestions that might help you begin to save.
So where do you start? We suggest picking a place, and setting a vision for your trip. How long do you want to go for? Where do you want to go? What do you want to do there? Who are you traveling with? Do you want to stay in one place for a while? Do you want to work along the way? We’ll share with you how we did this, and give you a few ideas to get you started.
Once you have set the vision for your trip, saved up the money, and boarded the plane, what’s next? It’s almost always inevitable that you have to continue watching your bank account throughout your trip, and often times, this can be difficult to do. We continue the episode by discussing the difficulties of staying on a budget while traveling, and what we have done to try and cut down our costs along the way.
Finally, we discuss our recommendations for coming home as happy as possible. This means not spending all your money – it’s tough, but you can do it with our help!
What do we want you to take away from this episode? That you CAN go – money is not an excuse to say that you can’t travel!
