Our Favorite Restaurants in Chiang Mai

There are a TON of restaurants in Chiang Mai, and we certainly didn’t get a chance to eat at them all. We stayed in the Nimman area, and spent most of our time eating our way through that neighborhood, and that’s where most of our recommendations come from!

Here are our favorite spots:

1.Salsa Kitchen

This was our favorite Mexican restaurant in Chiang Mai! We enjoyed everything we ate at Salsa Kitchen, but in particular it has delicious chips + guac, and if margaritas are your thing, make sure you try one of those as well! There was a whole separate GF menu, and lots of veggie alternatives here. It’s the type of place you plan to go once, and then can’t help to return to again… and again… and again!

2.Anchan Vegetarian Restaurant

Anchan was right near our apartment and probably the restaurant that we ate at the most while in Chiang Mai. They change their menu every week, and serve up homemade veg food, cooked to perfection! This family run business is small, adorable, delicious and also very affordable. We could easily eat a big meal + a smoothie for less than $5!

3.Rustic & Blue

Rustic & Blue is not the most affordable restaurant in town, but they serve up a mean brunch with all the fixings! If you are craving the luxuries of home, this is your place. They have non-dairy milk, gluten free bread, and avocado toast that will rival the best avo toast in your home town!

Rustic & Blue is also one of the cutest restaurants we have ever been too and hits all the hipster check boxes with their cute backyard patio, adorable furniture + light fixtures. We even went for a Christmas dinner even with Rustic & Blue and it made us feel like we weren’t quite so far from home for the holidays.

4.Food 4 Thought

This place serves up nice breakfasts + lunch options. They have GF and vegetarian alternatives, and they have amazing juices + smoothies to choose from, as well as kombucha! If you are a health food nut (like we are!), this is your place. And all for a fairly affordable price.

5.Accha Indian Food

This place might have the tiniest kitchen known to man kind, but it serves up really delicious and affordable Indian food. It also seems to always be busy (busting over into the Starbucks patio!), so be prepared to wait. The food is worth it though!

The location is very central in Nimman, but it can be easily missed, so once you’ve found Starbucks, you’ll know your close to Accha. Stop in for some fabulous Indian!

6.The Salad Concept

One of the most challenging parts about being in Asia long term is not getting enough vegetables. The Salad Concept has a few locations in Chiang Mai (one being in Nimman) and offers up a DYI salad bar, or a ton of salads to choose from.

The food is affordable, but it’s easy to spend a lot of money here, especially if you’ve been missing your greens!
