Where to Eat in Canmore & Banff

We’ve called Canmore, AB “home” for the last 4 years, and if you know us at all, you know we like to eat! Banff and Canmore has some incredible food that we’re excited to share with you for your next visit there.

Here are some of our favorite places for food, drinks, and coffee:

Banff Food & Drinks:

Bear Street Tavern – This is our go to for Pizza in Banff! They are known for their honey and chili oil, and it is an amazing combination with the flat crust pizzas they serve up. We also like the drinks here, and Tavern has one of the best Caesars ever!

Nourish – Nourish is our go-to for vegetarian food! This is a great place for even those people who don’t like vegetarian food, as they have a ton of great options on their menu. They are known for their nachos with over 25 ingredients, most of which you would never expect to find on nachos. We promise, they are delicious!

The Maple Leaf – This is one of those places that you just go once or you go to for a special occasion because of the price point… but if you’re in Banff and looking for a delicious meal, it’s worth the visit. Pretty much everything is good on the menu, so dive in and enjoy!

The Balkan – The Balkan has amazing Greek food, and is one of our favorite places for a nice dinner out in Banff! The tzatiki is amazing!

Sushi Bistro – If you’re craving sushi, we would recommend Sushi Bistro. The salmon avocado roll is our fave, and you get a dinosaur candy with your meal, which is a great little added bonus. The prices are great at sushi bistro also, so you can have a filling meal for an affordable price.

Park Distillery – Park is located right on Banff Ave with a great patio and a fun vibe! The food and drinks are great here, and one of the things that we love about Park is that they make all of their alcohol in house.

Brew Pub – This is a local favorite! It’s located on the second story in the Clock Tower Mall and has a ton of pub food and great options for beer and drinks. If you’re looking for a more casual pub vibe, this is definitely the place to be!

Wildflour – Wildflour is one of our go-to’s for coffee! One of the things that is great about Wildflour is that they also have great pastries, sandwiches and lunch options. It’s hard to find a good, healthy lunch in Banff, so Wildflour is our go-to option. They also have great GF options available!

White Bark – White Bark has really good coffee and is a great option if you’re looking for a well made coffee in town! It also has a beautiful patio for a nice summer afternoon.

Good Earth Coffeehouse – Good Earth is easily the best coffee shop in town if you need to get some work done. The wifi is solid, the food and drinks are good, and their patio is great. On top of that, you can get beer and wine here, so it’s a great option for those who want a casual to place to hang out, but still want to enjoy some alcohol.

Canmore Food & Drinks:

Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. – Tavern is our go-to for pizza in Banff, and Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. is our go-to for pizza in Canmore! This place is always bumping and it is well worth the wait to eat their food. One of the best parts is that they have GF and vegan crust options!

Communitea – Our favorite place for lunch pretty much ever! Communitea is adorable, has an amazing vibe and serves up healthy (but delicious) bowls, salads, soups, sandwiches, and more. They also have great desert options, hundreds of teas to choose from and great coffee.

The Summit Cafe – Located up in Cougar Creek, this small breakfast joint is a great option for weekdays or weekends before a hike or a day skiing for a hearty and delicious breakfast.

CrazyWeed – If you’re looking for somewhere that is a bit nicer to grab dinner at, CrazyWeed is a great option. They have really good food and wine, and the atmosphere is really nice here. It’s a big of a higher price point, but worth it if you’re looking for more of a fine dining experience.

Tapas – Tapas is pricey, but you pay for you get! We went for Amanda’s birthday a few years ago and it was worth every penny. Make a reservation because it’s small and intimate inside!

Rave Coffee – Rave is a local coffee brewer, and they have a location where you can purchase drinks. They serve up a mean latte, so if you’re looking for a good coffee, this is your place.

Mountain Mercato – Mountain Mercato is located right on main street and has a cute patio looking out on the mountains. They serve up delicious drinks and have a cute little market inside where you can buy speciality items. Mountain Mercato doesn’t have wifi so this isn’t a great place to do work, but it’s perfect for meeting a friend, a journaling session or reading a book.

The Grizzly Paw Brewing Co. – Grizzly Paw beer is made locally in Canmore, and this is a great place to go and have some beers and enjoy the views of the mountains. They serve up pretty typical pub fair, so if you’re hungry, this is also a decent place for a bite to eat.
