The Georgia Guidestones

Located approximately 2 hours east of Atlanta, the Georgia Guidestones have been referred to by some as the Stonehenge of Georgia. About 35 years ago, these 20 foot stones were left in the middle of the Georgia Countryside with “guidelines for the future” written on them in 8 different languages; English, Hindi, Spanish, Swahili, Chinese, Hebrew, Arabic and Russian. No one knows who left them there.

The guidelines are as follows:

  1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
  2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.
  3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
  4. Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.
  5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
  6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
  7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
  8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
  9. Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.
  10. Be not a cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.

The Georgia Guidestones were left behind for a post-apocalyptic society, with the intentions of designing a “better” future society (or at least that is the speculation on why they are there). A few feet beside the giant granite slabs that make up the Guidestones is cement slab that apparently contains a time capsule 6 feet below it, to be opened in a year that has not yet been decided on (insert puzzled face).

On this episode of the podcast, we take a road trip from Atlanta to visit the Georgia Guidestones. This episode is a little bit different from some of our other episodes, because we took our portable recorder with us to give you an at-the-scenes account of our drive through the Georgia countryside, and our thoughts on and experiences at the Georgia Guidestones.

Join us as we explore Gerogia, and check out this mysterious tourist attraction.

Enjoy!
