On this episode of the podcast, we are traveling from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile to Uyuni in Bolivia. The Atacama desert is one of the driest deserts in the world, and it is said to be the closest place on Earth to Mars. We certainly experienced this while exploring Valle de la Luna, Laguna Cejar, and some of the other incredible tourist attractions there. From San Pedro de Atacama, we made our way to the world’s largest salt flats: Salar de Uyuni. Salar de Uyuni is 12,000 km2 and easily one of the most popular tourist attractions in South America. We discuss the horror stories that we heard about this tour, our issues booking a tour, and then our 3 day experience. Needless to say, the salt flats tour helped us to embrace uncertainty and push ourselves outside of our comfort zones. After 2 full days spent dealing with high altitudes, cold climates, and a lot of general uncomfortableness, we finally arrived at the salt flats, and the incredible scenery was completely worth the discomfort we experienced to get there. Check out some of the cool perspective photos we took while at the salt flats below!
