Ayahuasca is a medicinal hallucinogenic tea used by indigenous tribes in the Amazon. It is a tea made from two plants and the result is a very strong psychedelic substance. Ayahuasca is becoming more and more popular as people realize the massive physical and mental health benefits that it can provide. From addicts curing their addictions, physical injuries healing, and people processing childhood trauma, the evidence for its positive benefits continue to grow. It’s not all positive though. Accompanied by strong nausea and purging, it can be a very painful experience. From its home in the jungle of Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, ayahuasca ceremonies have now spread and are available in many places in South America. Participating in an ayahuasca ceremony was one of the most meaningful and significant experiences we have ever had while traveling.
On this week’s episode, we share more of our personal experiences attending an ayahuasca ceremony, the personal development benefits that we have experienced, and why we wanted to go in the first place. You’ll also learn about how our opinions of drugs have changed over time, more information and resources for learning more about ayahuasca and finding a ceremony if you are traveling South America, and much more!
