One and a half years ago Rory Madigan left Australia with a plan to travel for a little while before heading home and settling down.

Now, 548 days later, a lot has changed. He’s visited countries he never thought he would, he’s decided on a new direction for his career, and his relationship with himself has fundamentally changed.

We sat down in a park in Banff, Alberta and had a wide-ranging conversation on:

  • Arriving in India for the first time
  • Highlights from traveling India
  • The reality of India vs. the romantic travel ideas
  • Backpacking Southeast Asia
  • Anxiety before travel
  • Travel as a vacation Vs. Travel as an adventure
  • Perspective before his trip vs. 548 days later
  • The value of moving to a new city
  • Hiking
  • How travel can help you discover things you like that you once thought you disliked
